Ordinary people, extraordinary God

We're a community of Jesus followers in the heart of Winchester, gathering people from every stage of life to worship the living God. At our core, we're ordinary people transformed by an extraordinary God — and guided by the Holy Spirit, we're passionate about living out the message of the Bible together.

We help people get to know and follow Jesus and grow in God's Word. We equip believers to serve Winchester, the wider UK, and support God's global mission — bringing hope, joy and blessing wherever we go.

Everyone is welcome at Hope. We come as we are, and in God's kindness, he shapes us into who we're made to be.

Rooted in the historic Christian faith

We are an evangelical, charismatic and protestant church, holding to the historic, core and common tenets of the Christian faith as expressed in the Apostles', Nicene and Chalcedonian Creeds.

We affirm the statement of faith of the Evangelical Alliance and believe the Bible to be the inspired and inerrant Word of God, sufficient in all matters of faith and practice. We believe the Holy Spirit is still operative today, and are generally reformed in our theology — with an emphasis on God's grace and justification by faith alone.

We are part of Commission, a family of churches that partner in global mission, and also part of Newfrontiers.

Those who shepherd the church

In the Bible, local churches are served by elders (see Titus 1:5–9 & 1 Timothy 3:1–7), and we have the same set-up here at Hope. Below are our current elders, alongside their wives.

Caring for one another well

Deacons are given to the church to help us care for each other well — strengthening pastoral care, supporting ministry, and helping to cultivate a healthy, Christ-centred community.
